Unpublished pictures of the Spanish Civil War by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and ‘Chim’ on show in Barcelona

The MNAC, in co-production with New York’s International Center of Photography (ICP), shows the content of the ‘Mexican suitcase’, the pictures of the Spanish Civil War taken by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David Seymour ‘Chim’ for the first time in Barcelona and Spain. Capa left Paris in 1939, just before the occupation by the Nazis of the French capital. He left 126 films in his studio containing 4,500 photographs taken in Spain between May 1936 and March 1939, most of it corresponding to the Spanish Civil War. Read more…

An opera on the relationship between Salvador Dalí and Gala arrives at Barcelona’s Liceu

The tense, complex and ambiguous relationship between the Catalan painter Salvador Dalí and his muse and life partner Gala is the theme of ‘Jo, Dalí’ (I, Dalí), by Xavier Benguerel. The opera ‘Jo, Dalí’ is on at Barcelona‘s famous Liceu Theatre for the first time, but only for three shows. ‘Jo, Dalí’ has already run in Madrid. The Catalan composer  had already been thinking about doing this opera since 1999, but it was with the push by the Ministry that the opera was finally finished in its current form. High-Speed Train between Barcelona and Madrid is reduced to 2h 30 min

Travel time by high-speed train between Barcelona and Madrid is reduced as of Monday to 2h. 30 min thanks to the implementation of a new navigation system. Direct trains between the Catalan capital and Madrid are benefiting from the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), a common navigation system for high-speed trains throughout Europe. Trains will reach a maximum speed of 310 km/h at certain points of the 621 kilometres journey between the two cities. Chicago, the musical, in Barcelona

Chicago visits Paral·lel in Barcelona. This musical is a combination of black comedy and prison drama. Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two ambitious women who are serving sentences for crimes of passion and try to earn the favour of the lawyer Billy Flynn all of which is set in a 1920s Chicago. It’s represented until 13rd November from Tuesday to Thursday at  9 pm. Les Misérables in Barcelona

The musical Les Misérables finally reaches Barcelona. Although it is the first time it will be represented in Barcelona, it has been preceded by a tremendous success. Critics have confirmed this show to be one of musicals with the best stage production, and with good reason, as it includes a spectacular vocal performance and an amazing staging, which moves more than 100 people and has been decorated under the inspiration of the original paintings of Victor Hugo himself. It’s represented until 1st April every Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8,30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and 22 pm and Sundays at 6pm. Read more…

A place to go out or have a drink: a Hawaiian bar in Eixample called Kahiki.
A perfect sunday morning: Go to the beach at summer, and take a walk or go cycling along the seafront in the other seasons.
